Photographer Highlight | Tiffany Dedering Photography

The website count down is on – and we are all getting so stinking excited.  And the launch time is going to be so perfect as the weather is warming up and we all start thinking about booking more sessions again.

I am so excited to have yet another photographer to bring to you as our highlighted Tailored photographer this week!  Tiffany has phenomenal work!   I can’t wait for you guys to read on to learn more about her, and then follow along on facebook or instagram all week while we highlight her work there as well!

1. How long have you loved photography?

I started my fascination with photography when I was in grade school. By the time I graduated 8th grade, I knew that I wanted to become a photographer. I got my first camera as my graduation gift that year (2000) and learned on a film camera!!

2.  How long have you done photography for a business?

I got my first DSLR and have been doing photography as a hobby since 2015. I spent a lot of time building up a portfolio and learning how to use my equipment and became a legal business in 2019.

3.  If photography wasn’t your job, what would you do?

So aside from photography, I am currently a preschool teacher. I have worked with kids for the last 20+ years and that’s what I would be doing full time if I didn’t also have my photography.

4. What sparked your interest in photography?

When I was young I used to get the National Geographic magazines mailed to me once a month, and I remember just sitting and looking in awe and how beutiful the photos of the animals, skies, land and nature all together were. That is really what started my interest in photography.

5.  What area do you work in?

I’m in Milwaukee, WI.

6.What makes you passionate about photography?

I love being able to capture the moment. Kids (which is really my specialty) don’t stay little long, they change so much from day to day, and I really just love being able to capture these small things that most people don’t even realize until they look back at the photos.

7. What sets you apart from other photographers?

Honestly, there’s a million of us. Yet not every photographer is going to be the same. We all have our own style, our own looks, how we run our business. . .etc. And I understand that and am aware that I need to bring something to the table that’s going to set me apart and I believe that the thing that I have to offer is just that, me. I’m a pretty easy going, laid back, not going to hunt you down, people person. I love to chit chat, make small talk and (hopefully) make people feel like a long time friend.

8.  Do you have any advice for future clients or people looking for a photographer in general? (feel free to answer one or both, just let me know which one if its not obvious)

My advice to clients is to listen, really listen, to what your photographer is telling you or suggesting to you when it comes to locations, timing, clothing, posing. . etc. Not that you as a client have/are making bad choices, but sometimes being a professional allows us just that little bit of extra insight that can really help a session run smoothly.

I would also tell people that most know, or feel, you get what you pay for. While this can absolutely be truer than true, it isn’t always the case. If you find a photographer and are skeptical, don’t hesitate to ask for some sample work.

9. What is your niche in photography, or where do you specialize?

I specialize in children, families, fresh 48’s and birth photography.

10. What makes a session fantastic to you?

When we can have fun! Of course there’s going to be times where kids don’t want to listen, or have a melt down, but that’s part of the territory and sometimes those photos can turn our pretty darn cute. But of course, my goal is to have fun!!

11. Favorite place/location you’ve ever shot at?  (doesn’t have to be a paid sessions, could even be from a vacation)

From the business side of it, my favorite place to shoot (indoors) would be inside a delivery room. Outdoors I love to shoot at a local park and downtown (specifically in the 3rd ward where there’s so many unique buildings to shoot near).

As for personal shoots, my family and I love the beach so I love shooting them when they are there naturally. I love getting detail shots of the sand on them, or them digging in the sand or them running through the water. Really beautiful shots can come from the beach!!

12.  Best place to order prints from for every day pictures

MPix!

13.  Favorite way to meet clients?

Word of mouth!! Nothing beats that good ole fashion word of mouth.

14.  Where do you like to go to have meetings with potential clients to show them your work?

I do not currently do IPS so I just send them a gallery link right now. IPS is something I’ve been thinking about more and more.
